Agwa is pleased to announce that the company has been Highly Commended in the Innovation Award category at the 2025 International Seafarers Awards, hosted by The Mission to Seafarers on 31 October at the Fairmont Hotel in Singapore.

The Seafarers Awards are a leading global platform recognising organisations and individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to improving life at sea. With more than 520 senior representatives from across the maritime sector in attendance, the 2025 ceremony highlighted solutions that strengthen seafarer welfare, enhance operational readiness and support the long term sustainability of the global fleet.

Receiving this distinction from The Mission to Seafarers – a charity supporting 1.89 million seafarers in over 200 ports – underscores the growing industry recognition for technologies that deliver practical, measurable improvements onboard. Agwa’s solution was acknowledged for its contribution to crew wellbeing, vessel resilience, and year round access to fresh food, one of the most persistent logistical and welfare challenges at sea.

Delivering practical value to vessels and their crews

Agwa’s autonomous growing system enables ships to reliably produce fresh greens throughout the voyage, reducing the operational dependency on port supply chains. By ensuring consistent access to clean, high quality produce, vessels can support better nutrition, reduce waste and improve the daily experience of their crews.

The system’s AI driven agronomy engine provides fully automated crop management tailored to maritime environments, aligning with broader industry goals around welfare improvement, ESG commitments and the adoption of smarter, more resilient onboard technologies.

Strengthening welfare outcomes across the maritime sector

This recognition reinforces Agwa’s commitment to working with shipowners, managers and welfare organisations to introduce practical innovations that directly address frontline crew needs. As the industry continues to prioritise safety, wellbeing and sustainability, solutions that provide tangible benefits at scale are becoming essential components of modern fleet operations.

Agwa is honoured to be recognised alongside leading contributors to seafarer welfare and looks forward to continuing its work supporting healthier, more resilient and future ready vessels.
